marketing-rechner.com is an independent, ad-funded project from Switzerland. The aim is to take marketing and finance metrics that usually sit behind expensive software or scattered across blog posts, and make them available as free, transparent calculators — with an honest reading of the numbers rather than benchmark figures repeated from somewhere else.

Who is behind it

The site is run by Reto Pontoni, based near Zurich. He studied economics with a focus on banking and finance at the University of Zurich and subsequently qualified in Switzerland as a Certified Expert for IFRS Accounting and as a Swiss Certified Treasurer. As managing director of a Swiss company he works daily with exactly the figures these calculators cover: margin, contribution margin, ROI and payback. He also invests privately in several e-commerce and online marketplace startups — an environment where metrics such as CAC, customer lifetime value, ROAS and engagement rate are not theory but a weekly basis for decisions. The calculators are therefore not designed on a drawing board, but grow out of the practice of someone who uses these numbers himself, with a solid financial background behind him.

How we work

Every calculator is built on the established, openly documented formula for its metric — worked through on a concrete example you can follow step by step on the page. Where we quote benchmarks or reference values, we make their origin transparent and point to the original sources in the knowledge articles. We deliberately avoid the flattering top-end figures common in the industry and present numbers in a way that is useful for your own decision. All inputs are processed locally in your browser; your values never leave your device.
