Email Calculators

Email is only the highest-return channel if the numbers survive inspection. These four work from delivered mail and real opens rather than from the averages quoted in benchmark reports.

From opens to revenue, in the order the numbers actually matter

Every figure in email marketing has a denominator worth arguing about, and that is where most reporting goes wrong. Open rate comes first and matters least: it divides by delivered mail rather than by mail sent, and since Apple began preloading tracking pixels a large share of recorded opens were never opened by a person. Treat it as an early-warning signal, not a verdict. Click rate is the honest one, because a click is a deliberate act no preloader can fake — and its sibling, the click-to-open rate, isolates whether the message itself earned the action or merely the subject line did. Then the money: campaign ROI puts attributable revenue against real costs and tells you whether the quoted 36:1 has anything to do with your own list. And list value closes the loop by turning all of it into a per-subscriber figure, which is the number that decides what winning the next subscriber may cost. Read in that order, each metric explains the next; read in isolation, every one of them flatters you.
